As a Computer Technician at Ithaca ReUse, I was responsible for refurbishing and re-purposing donated computer hardware, ensuring that each component met quality standards before being distributed for reuse. I conducted detailed diagnostics, performed necessary repairs, and upgraded various hardware systems, including CPUs, memory modules, and storage devices. This hands-on role honed my technical skills in hardware troubleshooting, repairs, and system optimization.
Additionally, I developed custom software tools to aid in testing and verifying the functionality of refurbished hardware. These tools streamlined the diagnostic process, allowing for faster and more accurate assessments of each system’s performance. This experience significantly enhanced my proficiency in software development, particularly in creating solutions to solve real-world technical problems.
Throughout my time at Ithaca ReUse, I also gained valuable leadership experience by mentoring new technicians, overseeing the workflow in the refurbishing department, and ensuring that projects were completed on time and to the highest standards. My ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and provide technical support to other team members helped improve the overall productivity and quality of our operations.
